COULD A COURTROOM BUILDING LOOK LIKE A SKI-LODGE?

In a collaborative effort between its Auburn and Alameda offices, The Engineering Enterprise takes home another Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Award in lighting design for the Portola Courthouse  in Portola, California.  Nicole Miles and Emmanuel Mendo, the main lighting designers on the project, decided early on to go for the IES Energy and Environmental Design Award (sponsored by Osram Sylvania).  The result is that the project exceeds the State of California Energy Code – Title 24 by 18% for interior lighting and 32% for exterior lighting  while artfully illuminating key architectural features that make this courthouse quite different from your typical government building!  The project has also won “Best of 2010” by McGraw Hill’s California Construction Magazine.
